FRANCISCA

Francisca never knew her mother or father. She lived with her grandmother until she was six, but was forced to seek other shelter in order to go to primary school. She moved in to her aunt’s home when she was seven, where she was forced to do domestic chores in exchange for permission to attend primary school. She suffered regular threats and beatings, and was often malnourished.
In order to escape this abuse, Francisca sought the help of nuns at a local Catholic church. They funded the remainder of her primary education, and provided her with an application for Peace House Secondary School. She was accepted and is currently enrolled.
Francisca enjoys studying Math, Science, and English. She wants to use her Peace House education to become a secondary school teacher. In her spare time, she likes to sew clothes. After being accepted to Peace House Secondary School, Francisca discovered that her grandmother’s home had been demolished during a land dispute, leaving her homeless. Peace House sent transportation to help Francisca’s grandmother safely move to a new home.
